[Car] Buyer Beware

A young adult purchased a used automobile from a neighbor for $8,000.00. Within a year of driving the car, an accident occurred involving the aforementioned young adult... and his vehicle. The insurance company deemed the car a total loss. Upon closer examination of the transmission VIN, authorities discovered that the car was in fact stolen and so the insurance company denied the young adult's claim. This would not have been the case had the VIN on the transmission been checked prior to purchase. Buyer beware.
